My cd-writer 8230e cannot create readable audio cd's.

I just purchased the cd writer 8230e off ubid.com; therefore, HP help was no help at all. Here's my problem...

I can burn data cd's fine. However, when I try to burn an audio cd (either .WAV or .MP3 cd's), it doesn't work. The CD will be burned; however, nothing can read the disk (not my computer, nor my stereo). In fact, when it is in my cd rom drive, my computer doesn't even recognize it is there. I am using RecordNow software (and do not have direct cd). Can anyone please help me?

Have you tried a different brand of media? What type of discs do you have CDR or CDRW? What version of Windows have you installed?

Re: My cd-writer 8230e cannot create readable audio cd's.

Hi Gavin,

I was hoping you would reply. I saw all the times you've helped other people, and was praying you would read mine. OK... here goes...

I am using Windows 98 Second Edition. The discs I have tried are...

1) Imation CD-R 1x-12x Compatible 700MB/80Min
2) Memorex Black CD-R 1x-16x 700MB/80Min

I don't know if it is the disc, because I was able to butn a data disc. (That worked fine. However, I do remember reading that HP doesn't support the 80 minute discs).

I was wondering, do you think it is a software problem? If I purchase Easy CD Creator, would this solve the problem?

PS. I don't know much about computers. I was reading your replys to others, and I don't understand some of the fixes that you suggested. SO, if you think something would work, you may have to "dumb it down" for me.

Thanks again!!!

Re: My cd-writer 8230e cannot create readable audio cd's.

Gavin,

I fixed it. It turns out it is a software problem. I got Nero CD Burn, and everything burns fine. Therefore, it is a problem with Record Now.

Again, thanks for your help.
