my cd-writer problem?

my pc states that i do not a have a cd writer drive when i clearly do. my cd writer opens with out any problems but i cannot use it. what can i do. oh yeah! and my dvd rom doesnt work either can some solve my problem thank you. edward my email address is calny510718@aol.com
