Nero CD burning software and Win XP

I am having the same problems as above. I have the latest version of nero (v5582) and this was working fine with win2000. After installing XP, Nero failed to identify IDE's and the XP CD writing software also failed. Is this a driver problem? If I download and install the above driver, will this fix the problem?
I am not a techie and the thought of having to do some of the above solutions is quite daunting!

Re: Nero CD burning software and Win XP

I recently upgraded my system to the same latest Nero Burning software under Windows XP as well. It has had no problems identifying my IDE CD-RW drive.

Assuming that the WinXP Hardware Device Manager identifies your CD-ROM as a CD-R or CD-RW drive, then there should be no problem.

So, check to make sure that the Hardware Device Manager knows that your CD writer is not just a plain vanilla CD drive. If it *does* think it is just a CD reader, then you should investigate updating the driver for that device.

Otherwise, you might just have to go out and get a drive that is supported by XP.
