optical drive
Where can I find a driver for this CD r/w: I bought it as a Compaq CD-RW with Compaq part number 237340-B30. It was manufactured by NEC, and is a NEC NR-7800A.
I have lost the install disk that came with it, and Windows 98 does not recognize it as a CD-rw, only as a CD-ROM.
Thanks
Jim

Re: optical drive
You need software to write to it. The driver for the drive is still the one that came in the OS. No windows release has ever natively supported CD-RW drives; they all require third-party software. You could try getting Roxio Easy CD Creator 5. It used to be Adaptec Easy CD Creator, but they spun the software division off.
