Optical Library Drivers Porting

Hello all!

For some time now I have been struggling with a HP 20XT Optical Library under my Linux computer here. There is support for mounting and controlling the changer, but all MANUALLY...

I cannot find anything that would allow the library to appear as seperate "drives" under /dev, so that I could possibly put a Logical volume across the disks to use the library like several large, slow disks.

I read on the internet that HP has a Optical Driver kit, which contains the source (?) for the HP UX Optical Library driver for porting to other OS's. I am interested in porting these to Linux, if possible.

Would anyone know where I could obtain this development kit, or by chance any other programs, drivers, etc, that will allow me to use my library? Unfortunately its just for home networ use, so I can't be spending $10K for some corperate program from a professional company to drive the unit.

Re: Optical Library Drivers Porting

HI
I also have a 20XT with Novell and cannot use it anymore because I do not have the original cd to reinstall everythink.

I do not know if you managed to install linux inside the library, but if you do so, you may try to use an ISV software to manage the library, I know that tapeware have a linux version for library, not shure if it support optical disks.

Anyway let us know if you found somethink working
