Read Error

When trying to store data to a cd-rw disc i get an error message. The message says: "The disc in drive (E) has experienced an unrecoverable read error. This means that data that you previously put on the disc can no longer be correctly retrieved from the disc. It is advisable to move any critial data off the disc as soon as possible." What I want to know is if the problem is with my cd-recorder or the disc itself.

Re: Read Error

It will most likely be the cd-rw disk. If you can reformat another disk that prove the cd writer is ok.

Re: Read Error

1. Clean the sucker thoroughly.

2. Examine the CD. See if there are any scratches, particularly ones that are curved and go in the same direction as the recording (thus rendering unusable a bigger chunk of the CD.)

3. Clean the CD!

4. Reformat several CD's. (assuming you are using CD-RW), observing the maxim "Cleanliness is next to Godliness". If several of them fail then it is the CD recorder. If only one or two fail then it is the CD.

Re: Read Error

When I get the error message I can take the same cd and reformat it and it will work fine for a little while and than I get the same message over again. I also have two other cd-rw disc that do the same thing. Does the brand of the disc make a difference.
