PCM4+ / no events
Hi all,
We are using HP PCM+ 4.00.06.0628 version.
Since few days, we have an issue with events : we are no longer receiving events from Procurve switches.
Syslog seems to be OK.
On our Procurve switches, the snmp and syslog configurations are :
snmp-server community "XXXX" unrestricted (A.B.C.D ==> HP PCM Server IP Address)
snmp-server host A.B.C.D community "XXXX" trap-level all
snmp-server enable traps snmp-authentication standard
no snmp-server enable traps snmp-authentication extended
snmp-server enable traps startup-config-change
snmp-server enable traps running-config-change
snmp-server mib hpSwitchAuthMIB excluded
logging A.B.C.D (A.B.C.D ==> HP PCM Server IP Address)
logging facility syslog
logging severity warning
logging notify running-config-change transmission-interval 60
Show commands :
SW1# show snmp-server

My questions :
- do you have any idea for that issue ?
- how to test syslog and snmp configuration ?
- what are the best practices for snmp and syslog with Procurve and HP PCM ? What is the best configuration for HP procurve ?
Thanks in advance !!
L.

Re: PCM4+ / no events
Hey,
Since you mentioned this issue started since few days.
i'm wondering what changed in your netwerk setup?
Sometimes if you create additional ip interfaces on your devices the snmp traps can be send using a different IP adres.
PCM will not recognize the device and wil NOT list the events under your switch or device tree.
You can still however locate all the events your default agent received by going to:
->Agent groups ->default agent group.
click on tab Events.
this will show all received events even from devices that are not listed in your procurve environment or devices that are sending with unexpected IP adressen.
Regards,
Ton
