Updating Switch Software Using PCM+
Hi I am currently unable to perform updates of switch software using the latest version of PCM+. WE have a number of switches 2600/2500/5400/6600 and 8200 with PCM+ running on windows server 2003
I Right Click on the switch followed by clicking on "Software update" This opens up a new window which scans the devices current state. This then shows me the device name the primary image, secondary image and the selected version of the latest software. This is as far as I get, after I click finish nothing else happens.
The .swi image is place in the path below along with the procurve_firmware.prp file
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\PNM\server\data\download.
Any Help would be welcome.
P.S. This thread has been moved from Switches, Hubs, Modems (Legacy ITRC forum) to Network Management > PCM. - Hp Forum moderator

Re: Updating Switch Software Using PCM+
have you tested your PCM communications settings? Do all pass?

Re: Updating Switch Software Using PCM+
You should get a "next" button on the software image selection screen. This should take you to the screen where you select a time for the update to occur and whether you want to reboot the device or not.

Re: Updating Switch Software Using PCM+
Using PCM+ v3.1
As the Server is not connected to the Internet i am following this step in the Admin Guide.
Select Tools > Preferences > AutoUpdates for PCM to launch the Global Automatic Updates window.
click Check Now to manually launch the Automatic Update Wizard
To install updates already downloaded to the PCM server, select Check for updates in PCM's download folder. To use this feature, software update files must be placed in the /server/data/download/autoupdate
folder. The default path is C:Program Files/Hewlett-Packard/PNM.
This is getting an message saying no updates available when there is.

Re: Updating Switch Software Using PCM+
The procedure you just listed is for updating PCM *itself* to the latest version, not for updating the switch firmware with PCM. To update PCM and its plugin applications (e.g. IDM, NIM, and PMM) you would need to place the appropriate .zip files into the download directory along with the .prp file. I do not know offhand if there is a way to manually inform PCM of new .swi images (as opposed to having it check automatically on the Internet) but I can tell you for sure that the approach you're applying here is not intended to achieve what you're trying to do.
Regards,
SVB

Re: Updating Switch Software Using PCM+
Within this, there would be a tab "software update status". Check the "scheduled time" and "status" columns to get some clue to this problem.
