Server cloning

Server cloning

I need to clone a DL20 Gen9 server. This server has CentOS 7 installed, and I want to use the cloning software called "Clonezilla." However, when I reboot with the Clonezilla live version using kernel 3.1.0-22, I follow the instructions from the HPE_c04441385_HP Dynamic Smart Array B140i RAID Controller User Guide since the RAID card is a B140i. But it doesn't recognize the RAID volume, only the individual disks. The same thing happens when I use the installation live (CentOS 7.0). I don't know what else to do. Can someone help me?

many thanks

Luigi

Re: Server cloning

Hi,

Have you contacted Clonezilla support regarding this issue.
Do you know if this software supports Software RAID, because B140i is SW RAID.

Here is the B1410i QuickSpecs, check the OS compatibility on page # 3

Thank You!

Re: Server cloning

You may give it a try to below instructions:

* Make sure that the RAID volume is properly configured on your DL20 Gen9 server. You can check the RAID configuration settings in the BIOS or the RAID management utility provided by the server manufacturer (HP in this case). Ensure that the RAID volume is set up correctly and all the disks are recognized by the RAID controller.

* Ensure that your DL20 Gen9 server has the latest firmware and driver updates installed. Install these updates on your server and try again to see if Clonezilla recognizes the RAID volume.

* Verify the compatibility of Clonezilla with the B140i RAID controller on your DL20 Gen9 server. Visit the Clonezilla website or user forums to see if there are any known issues or compatibility limitations with this specific RAID controller. It's possible that Clonezilla may not fully support this particular RAID controller, resulting in the issue you're experiencing.

* If Clonezilla continues to have trouble recognizing the RAID volume, you can try using alternative cloning software.

* If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be helpful to contact HPE support directly.

Remember to take appropriate precautions before attempting any modifications or updates to your server.

These are my opinions so use it at your own risk.
