First of all: I don't know who in PM thought it's a good idea to remove SPPs bootable function.
But let me say it clealry: It's a braindead unworldly decision from obviously someone sitting behind a desk, never been working as Admin.
It'S definitely one of the most stupid decisions in the closer history.
Your links don't include Gen 12 SPPs and still say one can boot it or create a bootable USB stick - which you can NOT since Gen12.
I've been using that function for many years over several generations, as it's easy and OS-independent and can be done via iLO (advance) with ease.
In real world most servers have NO GUI installed, means: Not Linux with GUI/window manager nor Windows Server XYZ.
That means using VMware, Xenserver (either Citrix or XCP-ng) or any other KVM-based solution without a "desktop" can't use that image in an easy way.
Due to the oudated and by that also incomplete documentation, I have 0 clue how to use it now, since it requires some baseline stuff and it seems like it can't pull an inventory via iLO remote connection.
Please provied how keep Gen12 servers updated without a massacre of manual work.
(i.e.: SPP before Gen12 was: boot image, select either automatic or interactive update,, wait until scan completes and let it run all available updates - a nobrainer)
Regards from an extremely disappointed HPE customer

I am absolutely agreeing with you....
Who in this IT-World would make a decision like that? It absolutely makes no sense. Just figured this out and I am more than disappointed. For an admin, this is a worst-case Szenario. Like i.e., how should we Update on an Capsuled OS, where it is impossible to install an AMS or SUT? Looking forward for an answer, which will not raise my effort to infinity....
