What if RAID controller failed?

Hi! I am using ProLiant DL160 Gen10 server and Smart Array E208i-p SR.

I plan to purchase a backup RAID controller, but it is no longer for sale. The documentation indicates that the Smart Array P408i-p SR with a battery is suitable.

In case of failure of my controller and replacement with this one, will everything work after replacement, will the array survive and what difficulties may arise?

You can upgrade from E208i-p to P408i-p / replace incase required.

Array should survive but that depends upon the kind of fault-tolerance configuration you have and number of drives fails. Generally controller failure does not cause data loss as array configuration stored on the drives.

However it is suggested to perform data backup on regular basis.

Hope this helps!
