I was wondering if anyone could walk me through the installation of Windows 2000 server on the Proliant 6400R server. I Just bought it used and it didnt come with any software. So I need to know what I need to get the windows installation to 1. Recognize that there are hard drives in the machine. 2 recognize the rest of the hardware in the machine. As it sits now all I get is it telling me there are no drives when I attempt to install windows 2000 advanced server.

Solution
Hi Andrew,
your system (if we assume that it has not been tampered with in anyway) includes a SCSI disk drive. So you must install the SCSI driver in the beginning of the Win2K installation where it asks you to press a key if you need to install any third party SCSI drivers. You can download the driver from http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_1106.html in the Driver-Storage Controller section. If you do this then the Win2K installation will see the disk drive and you will be able to normally finish the installation as you know.
Regards,
Mars

Re: 6400R Operating system installation
Thank you I had looked there but completely missed the drivers at the beginning. After Downloading half of the drivers there I finally located the propper raid array driver.

This is the only driver installable durring boot.
