lh 6000 multiprocessor
We've got a lh6000 u3 server with 4 cpu's. The server is running on w2k advanced server. I want to upgrade to 6 cpu's. I would like to know which steps I have to take to do this without problems. For instance, I know w2k supports up to 32 cpu's but...

Re: lh 6000 multiprocessor
Hi,
I don't think you should have any problems. As long as you have the correct amount of VRM's to accomodate the addition of processors, you should be okay.
I think Win2K has a HAL for single processors and another for multiprocessors. If you've already been running with multi-processors then you should have no problems.
Anyone out there who knows better, fell free to correct me!

Re: lh 6000 multiprocessor
I've got a similar problem. One of our application is running on a lh6000 with 2 cpus, running on windows 2000 server. We have to switch to 6 cpus. I know that windows 2000 server doesn't support more than 4 processor, so we have to use windows advanced server.
Our technical support tells me that there is some special step before using win2k adv. server on 6 cpus, so what do I would like to know which steps I have to take to do this.
PS : sorry for my bad english, I'm french.

Re: lh 6000 multiprocessor
Cedric,
There are no special steps I am aware of on the software side of things. If you have already been running with more than one processor, then you already have the Multiprocessor HAL installed. It should be the same one for Advanced Server.
On the hardware side of things, you just have to make sure you have the proer amount of VRM's to support the additional processors.
