Clearing Device Status
My question is probably very simple...
I just starting using ISM7 a month or so ago. Some servers will show a device status of major or minor and when looking at the log I can see the reason for it. Obviously it varies, maybe an error at boot up, a NIC unplugged, whatever. The question is, how do I clear it? In the old version of ISM you could just right click and select "mark as repaired". I don't have that option and I am seeing events from month ago that no longer apply or have been corrected.
Will I ever be able to get my number of "Device Status" numbers back down to 0?
Thanks.

Re: Clearing Device Status
Glen,
Here's the reply I sent in email, for the benefit of the ITRC board:
I'm assuming you're referring to the Integrated Management Log. Basically, you can not mark any items in the IML repaired, unless you have newer agents installed on the target machine (anything older than v5.5 is iffy). So, the first thing I'd recommend that you do is update your servers to the latest management agents. If you need a specific URL to download them, I can give that to you, just let me know. Anyway, once you have the agents updated, then you can drill down into the IML and mark individual items as repaired (you'll see a button once you scroll all the way down), or you can click the button next to it to mark all items repaired. Unfortunately, though, there's currently no way to CLEAR the IML, so you'll be left with a bunch of repaired entries. You can, however, go to the servers themselves, and clear them from there, if you really need to. Honestly, I'd recommend trying this on just one server, as a test, to make sure you achieve the desired results, and then go from there. So, good luck, and let me know how it works out!
Brent

Re: Clearing Device Status
Excellent note Brent, I would just like to include that setting the IML as repaired also depends on your SNMP settings. You need to have SNMP sets enabled, as well as a minimum of write permissions enabled in your community.
Hope this helps,
Jeff
