Clearing the Device Status

I'm pretty new to IM and have been given a task to sort out out current implementation. There are a number of issues so I'm sure I'll be posting again.

The issue I could do with some help on at the moment is one of Uncleared Device Events. We are running IM7 sp2.3 on a Win2k(sp4) server.

The Device status bar lists a lot of uncleared device errors. When I go to the device and clear them it doesn't change on IM? ex I have 10 reported degraded devices, I go to the server and it doesn't report anything but it doesn't update IM.

Oddly, on the uncleared events everything works fine - if I go to the serevr and clear an event it updates IM.

This is driving me bonkers at the moment - i've looked around for docs on this and can't find anything. The Comopaq technical and user docs I have and all the troubleshooting guides I've looked at don't cover this.
