VCA login password error

When setting up VCA on several servers I'm getting a few error messages such as

"The Version Control Repository Manager, at XXXXX, could not be accessed using the specified account and password."

"No inventory information is available to obtain a list of Support Paqs from.
A valid Version Control Repository Manager that contains one or more Support
Paqs must be configured before a Reference Support Paq may be selected.
If you have just selected a repository, please wait a few minutes and then refresh this page."

I have tried replacing the encrypted password file C:\compaq\wbem\cpqhmmd.acl with one
from a server that is working but to no avail.

Any ideas??

In order for a VCA to talk to a VCRM, the VCA must know what system has the VCRM and be configured with the account/password used to access the VCRM. That is part of the VCA setup/configuration. You might try checking the VCA configuration to see if it looks correct. You don't need to be changing the password file you mentioned, it sounds like more of a VCA configuration issue.

having the same problems here on several servers. All dc's running win2k SP 4. Uninstalled and reinstall all agents.

I have removed all compaq/hp agents, rebooted and reinstalled the agents again but it has not made any difference.

I installed the vcrm on a separate server from HPSIM. I was able to get all agents talking to vcrm. After getting it all working came in to work on Monday and still having the same problems. It is now in upper level support

I'm also getting this error although mine is not a configuration issue. Running sim 4.1 and all the vc agents work. About once a week, almost all the agents go blue and the account/password issue appears when trying to change the settings. Restarting the vc repository service on the sim host and rerunning the software polling task fixes the problem.
