Re: Version Control Agent reports incorrect status
The Version Control Agent does not have a Proliant Support Pack version to compare against.
If you upgrade to a newer version of the Version Control Agent, you may get an additional option on how to compare against the Reference Proliant Support Pack, if that option does not already exist within the VCA Settings.

Re: Version Control Agent reports incorrect status
This has nothing to do with a reference support pack. The VCA does have a reference support pack as indicated on the pic attached to the original post. The problem is that the 'latest' version as found by the VCA querying the VCR has a green check mark on it although the 'installed' version is older. Even if there were no reference support pack, the VCA would still be comparing to the versions obtained from the VCR and it should be indicating the proper status for each item. Make sense?

Re: Version Control Agent reports incorrect status
I rechecked the rules and you are right. If there is no Reference Support Pack component listed, it should use the latest version in the repository for comparison purposes. However, I found that it not only compares against the latest version number, but if the latest version has any bug fixes. In other words, if the latest version does not have a bug fix, it will not mark it as degraded.
The problem with this rule is that it does not appear to be turned on for the 9/14/04 firmware. http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/revision/6382.html shows this to be a critical firmware update. It should have been marked as being in a major status.
You may want to create a case at http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/mcm/countrySelection.do .
