iLO and SNMP traps Disk failures Linux

Hi, is the dl580 server with iLO able to send snmp traps if disk failures happend? I have read in some threads that the HP-SIM agent must be installed in the linux to to this, correct?

Correct. iLO can forward SNMP traps that are generated by the agents in the host OS, but does not have visibility to the disk system itself.
