ILO or ILO2?

ILO or ILO2?

I have a basic question that someone might be able to answer. I have been researching this, but I don’t know if I should have ILO or ILO2. We have Proliant DL servers, and even the newest of them still have ILO and not ILO2. Does this mean that ILO2 is an additional-cost feature? I understand that there is basic (comes with server) ILO and Advanced ILO, but I don’t understand ILO2. Any advice will be appreciated.

Re: ILO or ILO2?

ILO2 is a different hardware altogether. ILO2 comes with G5 servers and c-class blade machines. Most of the servers untill G4 has ILO. It is not possible to install ILO2 on machines with ILO. ILO and ILO2 firmwares are different and are NOT compatible.

Advanced ILO means ILO has license installed in it and all the advaned features are enabled depending on the type of license. Licenses can be procured from HP (ILO Licensing help page will direct to this link).
