iLO script tools (hponcfg) for VMWare?

Hi All,

I'm looking around for a version of the hponcfg tool that can be used on VMWare ESX 3.5 Update 3?

It seems pretty elusive, and I have seen many "hacky" solutions that do not work with our version of ESX (eg: install the redhat version blah-noarch, and you might need to install this, and then it *might* work).

Anyone had any experience in this area?

As you observe, using a Linux version 'may' work, but this tool is officially unsupported in the VMware COS.

Thanks for the reply David,

Is there any plans to have a RIBCL tool for VMWare, or is there a technique already available for scripting that I am not already using? :) ie: can the SSH interface be used to execute scripts?

Cheers

Re: iLO script tools (hponcfg) for VMWare?

You can use Perl script locfg.pl which is available for Linux. It can run RIBCL scripts. It is available as part of sample XML script package for iLO.

One thing, iLO should be on Network for this to work. You don't need to execute this from within the host OS on the server. In order to run the locfg.pl script you may have to install some open source libraries.
