iLO
Hi Guy's,
We just bought a new Compaq DL380G3 server running Redhat Linux . And one of the ethernet port called iLO.
Question :
1) So how should I configure this iLO port.Do I need to put the ip address to iLO.Because when I do "ifconfig -a" I can't see the iLO port.
2) iLO are used for what and how should I do the admin job on this iLO port.
regards
mB

Re: iLO
There is a whitepaper describing lights-out technology and uses, called "Integrated Lights-Out technology: enhancing the
manageability of ProLiant servers". Here is a direct link:
http://h200001.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00257345/c00257345.pdf
Other related lights-out manuals can be found here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&locale=en_US&docIndexId=179166&taskId=101&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=397989
Regarding your specific questions:
1) iLO is not an ethernet port intended for use and configuration within the host OS.
2) You should try iLO and familiarize yourself with it. Try these steps:
a) connect iLO to the management network.
b) browse into iLO using the DNS name printed on the sticker on the server chassis.
c) log into iLO using the credentials printed on the same sticker.
