AccessPoint 420wl

Hi all,

I want to use my HP SIM Server to monitor our ProCurve Network. For our switches it seems to work well, but not for our 65 AccessPoints. The devices are discoverd but not recognized automatically (Systemtype is shown as unknown).

To solve this issue I had to add an entry in Options/Manage System Types. There is already an entry for the APs by default but the System Object Identifier entered is 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.37. But our APs use the following SOI 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.6.4.1.1. I'm wondering if HP does not know it's own SOIs?!? But after adding creating a new entry with this string SIM recognizes the system correctly.

Then I've downloaded the latest MIB File, compiled and registered it in SIM. I'm able to browse the MIB Events in Options/Events/SNMP Trap Events so I think the process was successful.

To receive the Traps in the past, I used the Kiwi Syslog deamon, which I've configured to receive SNMP Traps also. So I know, the APs are sending Traps. I've entered the SIM server in the first AP for test purposes as second Trap Receiver. But no event will appear in SIM. Even after enabling to receive unregistered Traps nothing happens.

I checked that Trap Handling is enabled for all the Traps and restarted the server because I did not know if this is needed. But it is still not working.

Do you have any ideas what's going wrong?
