Addind a new system type
Does anyone know how to add a new System Type to the drop-down list in Manage System Types? I'd like to add Firewall to the list.
Thanks,
John

Re: Addind a new system type
If so, then you can pull down the screen, click on "New" and then just click on the "Retireve From System" Button. This will provide a screen that requires the IP Address and you can change the community name to suit. Then just basically step through.

Re: Addind a new system type
My firewall does support SNMP and I have already done what you suggest - the part that I am having problems with is further down the "New rule" screen, underneath "Assign the following properties to systems identified by the above criteria". "System type" is a drop-down list starting with "Application" and ending with "Workstation". I would like to know if it is possible to add new entries to this drop-down.
Thanks,
John

Re: Addind a new system type
We are not talking about SUB-TYPES, which is what "Manage System Types" actually allows you to create. SIM seems to use the terms interchangeably.
The list of System Types reads:
- Application
- Shared Resource Domain
- Storage Device
- ...
- ...
- Unknown
- Unmanaged
- Workstation
Is this list user-modifiable?
