Hi there
I have installe dthe latest HPSIM, and discovered all of my HP servers. The trick is that many of my servers reamin with a System Type of "Unknown". I have tried instaling latest Proliant Support packs to no avail.
I then tried to set the Disk Threshold settings for all my servers, and when I ran this task, I got the following error on mnay of my servers:
"The agent does not trust the HP Systems Insight Manager server, establish a trust relationship."
So I thought, OK, well this explains why their System Types are still classed as "Unknonw", so I then exported the Server Certificate from within the HPSIM, and installed it on of my currently "Unknown" servers, but this still has not fixed my problem.
Can someone please advise as to how I can setup a security trust to my "Unkonwn" servers, and also perhaps explain why some servers work fine, and others do not??
Thanks
William R.

Solution
Focus on SNMP to get Servers recognised.
On the rmote Server, check SNMP allows the HPSIM Host Server access and that the correct community names are set up.
The trust is used when you access the Agent from HPSIM. You should be able to click on the HW Icon and go straight to the Management Agent Page.

Re: Agent does not trust HPSIM...?
Thanks very much Rob, SNMP was definitely the main root cause.
It was either not installed, or configured to "Only accept SNMP packets" from localhost.
There are still a few servers that are not being discovered, such as my Windows Storage Server 2003 NAS boxes, but I will keep digging to see if there is a related SNMP problem.
