Append/Overwrite - Data Collection - Historical Trend Analysis

We seem to be experiencing problems where by our data collection tasks for historical trend analysis revert back (apparently randomly) to "overwrite existing data."

There are no other data collection tasks scheduled.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how did you stop it re-occurring?
