Automatic Event Handling

I'm upgrading from CIM 5.2 to SIM 4.1 via a fresh install. Via CIM 5.2 I was able to get any Compaq related alerts such as fan, RAID Card or disk failure etc by easily selecting all "available alarms". Under SIM 4.1 do I need to configure a separate Event Handler to capture these events? The standard node up\down is working fine.

Not sure what you mean. If you have the trap destination set to send traps to the HP SIM server they will be received and placed in the event log. The Automatic Event Handling is to have it perform an action on a receipt of an event.

You can just configure an event notification to pick up all Critical and All major alerts or one for each or break it down even further if you want different people to get the messages from selected events.
