Automatic Events - spam email

Hi All,

I've recently upgraded from SIMS 4.1 to 4.2

Since the upgrade, the Automatic Events and configs were wiped (strange in itself??)

After setting up all the configs and creating a new event, I received a heap of emails of past events. e.g. if someone unplugs an ilo port I receive emails of all events... even non ilo based...

Browsing through the forums I found that I needed to apply SIMS 4.2 SP2. Having done so, the problem still exists.

I have a single rule set up:

Where Severity is Critical or Major, where system is any, email "my.email@company.com" with no time filter set.

Can anyone suggest if perhaps this rule is not effective in reporting such events? Should I be drilling down to "if system is server, enclosure, Managed processor etc etc.

what rules have you setup where you don't experience a spam problem?

Appreciate the feedback

Brian.

I have a typo in there... That should have read "Browsing through the forums I found that I needed to apply SIMS 4.2 SP1. Having done so, the problem still exists."

Applying the SP hasn't fixed the problem

Re: Automatic Events - spam email

I have a similar set up, except I have a rule for each severity, i.e major and critical.

It should't make a difference but...

Re: Automatic Events - spam email

Upgraded to SIM SP2 - having cleared all past events, and, monitoring recent events over the past few weeks, it's safe to concluded to issue has been resolved.
