Automating software distribution with SIM
This was asked in a different post but I thought I'd try again here.
Is there any way to tell SIM to automatically distribute any software that is not "green" (per whatever baseline is selected)?
We are finding having to drill through the VCR components for each platform each time we want to deploy something, very time consuming and prone to human error.
Much easier would be to have a button that says "distribute anything that is not green per the VCAgent on the target node(s)"

Re: Automating software distribution with SIM
The function of the ProLiant Support Pack and the Smart Components is that they will only install components appropriate for that system (e.g. it doesn't install fibre card support if it is not present) and it doesn't re-install something that is already there and the correct version (unless specifically told to do so).
If SW status is non-green based on the Reference Support Pack, deploy that support pack to the unit(s). Only the things that need updating will be updated.

Re: Automating software distribution with SIM
This is true but 2 issues remain:
1) This only applies to PSP elements. What about ROM BIOS and controller firmware? This is the biggest and time consuming problem for us.
2) When we deploy a PSP, we have to check the OS version (2000, 2003, 2003 64-bit, etc.) and deploy the correct version.
It would be immensely useful to have a "magic button" that says whatever is not green per the VCAgent, push it only...
