Can I script an automatic update to server groups?

One thing that is tedious and seems scriptable is updating the custom groups (i.e. server-group 001) that are inside the user-authorization screens. They are connected to the main groups because you can select them, hit the "update" button and it will tell you what servers are to be added and deleted, then you just click the "update contents" button.

Obviously some groups truely are custom, but in my case almost all of them are based on a query or attribute (such as servers with "SMS" in the name) and getting people to remember that when the server is added to the group they also have to go into the users-authorizations and update that list as well.

Is there a way to automate this process, say a nightly job that would run through a select set of groups and auto-update or sync them with any changes made to the main group?

That would be seen as circumventing the security model and as such is not possible.

Thanks David - can I recommend that for future releases the development team look into the security system to grant more granularity to people than the "the admin has to do everything and nobody else can do anything"
