Cannot Connect To VPM Scanner Error In SIM
recently, I've had problems with VPM.
My servers were licensed for VPM already and I performed WBEM and protocol setting configurations, configured SSH on all licensed nodes and licensed with keys.
Everythign was fine except for a few days back when i started noticing critical errors related to VPM.
They were generic internal VPM errors.
Everytime I would attempt a scan, it would say right after the "licensing step complete" screen, "Could not connect to VPM Scanner".
SOmething like that.
I uninstalled and reinstalled but still same problem. Has anyone ran into this?
Thanks

Re: Cannot Connect To VPM Scanner Error In SIM
There's a 1.10 version that fixed a few SSH issues.

Re: Cannot Connect To VPM Scanner Error In SIM
Has your network configuration or security configuration changed between the HP SIM server and the VPM Scanner task?
I have seen the IWAM_*_XXX accounts get changed, by an administrator, not knowing that it effected all his IIS applications (like RDP and VPM). This was fixed by removing IIS, and re-installing IIS, then installing VPM.

Re: Cannot Connect To VPM Scanner Error In SIM
I didnt' make any modifications to IIS.
My active directory + gateway servers are in VMs on another server but thats about it.
And i don't know if that sentence really matters.
When I installed IIS it said something about not having a proper SSL certificate but i chose to bypass that and keep installing. I've done it numerous times in the past but things were fine.

Re: Cannot Connect To VPM Scanner Error In SIM
I didn't install Windows 2K3 SP1 because some management tools do not support it yet.
And its a separated environment where there's no internet access and no patches were deployed.

Re: Cannot Connect To VPM Scanner Error In SIM
server?
Were there any implicit IIS or security modification made by any other software packages or installations (ie: anti-spyware, or anti-virus fixes or configuration updates, patches, etc...).
Did you enable SSL certificates, and not mean to?
(Program files->Admin Tools->IIS Mgr.
goto Tree Control, expand it,
Web Sites->Default Web Site (expand it), down one to the StatScanner (and select STATScanner, Right Mouse->Properties
Then select property page Directory Security tab,
in Edit Secure communications:
is the option "Require secure channel (SSL)" check box enabled? It should normally not be checked if you are on a single system, and don't need SSL security.
Also check the VPM utility "Change VPM Credentials" from the start menu.
Does the option at the bottom, Is the "Use secure connection when connnecting to the VPM server" check box enabled or disabled. I would hope disabled.
Since you don't have internet access to these systems, you should install the VPM Acquisition utility on a system with internet access, and bring the imported patch repository to your VPM system. You can them import these patch in to VPM.

Re: Cannot Connect To VPM Scanner Error In SIM
I still get the error
Unable to connnect to VPM scanner: "org.apache.axis.AxisFault: Read timed out"
I've made sure that the Use Secure Connection box is unchecked in Change VPM Credentials and that the Require Secure Channel box is also unchecked.
There is no firewall on the system, nor is there anti-virus software.
Any other ideas?

Re: Cannot Connect To VPM Scanner Error In SIM
I have reinstalled VPM twice and am seeing the same error.
I have disabled the firewall on the CMS server where VPM is also installed. I have not enabled Https also.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
