Client sending events
Do you all use SNMP on your clients to send traps to SIM. I have a W2000 dektop with a SMART drive error but it only shows on the system hardware status as major, no event was sent so my event rule never mailed the desktops group.
thanks

Re: Client sending events
Yes.
On the client something needs to detect the error, e.g. an Agent of some kind.
This should then generate the SNMP Trap, which is delivered to where the SNMP Service has Traps directed to.
On HPSIM, the SNMP Trap needs to be decoded by a loaded MIB, typically pre-installed for all of the HP Products. At that point a suitable event is generated in HPSIM.
