Combining SIM & RDP
Currently we have the following:
- SIM Version 5.1 SP1 on ServerA. It has a SQL DB on a Separate Server, ServerSQL1.
- RDP Version 6.8 (Build 282) SP1, on ServerB. It is using MSDE with a local SQL DB.
We want to do the following:
- Upgrade both SIM & RDP to latest version.
- Move the existing SQL DB on the RDP Server, ServerB, to ServerSQL1.
- Move both SIM & RDP to the same server. This will be either ServerB, the existing RDP Server, or to another server, but this will not be ServerA.
I would like to know the following:
- Is there any preference in the order in which this should be done?
- What are the pitfalls I might encounter?
- Has anyone done this successfully?
- How can I ensure that the RDP SQL Data is useable after the move?
If anyone has any thoughts, suggestions or experience with the above, I’d very much appreciate your input.
Thanks,
John

Re: Combining SIM & RDP
The easiest thing for you would be to move the SIM install on to the server where RDP is residing. Steps to move the SIM install to another server is available at ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/management/hpsim/hpsim-52-migratingNewSystem.pdf
