Curious problem "checking http server status"
Hi all - hope someone can help me out here...
I upgraded to SIM 4.2 recently. All went well for a few days uintil the MSDE crashed for reasons unknown and would not restart, since when the service check dialogue comes up stating "checking http server status" and never gets past it.
I reinstalled MSDE using the version contained within the 4.2 distribution (which I assume includes the latest service pack). The logs initially showed a connection failure to the SIM database, and on checking I found that the login mode for MSDE was set incorrectly in the registry. I changed the key value and verified I could login from a shell using "osql -U sa", everything OK.
The status check still remains, however, and I am at a loss to think why...
I can access the system management homepage from the CMS itself and from a remote machine via IE on ports 2301/2381, but if I try to run SIM on the CMS I get the status message, if I run it from a remote browser session, I get "this page cannot be displayed..."
Any suggestions?

Re: Curious problem "checking http server status"
Colin
I am having exactly this problem.
I am getting the following error in the sytem Event log.....
"mxdomainmgr(error)Recieved an remote exception while binfingto RMI registry"
I have just built a new v4.2 box and having read a few threads it looks like this might be a problem with the change of computer name. As such i am looking at base building a box and trying a fresh install. Maybe it will work, maybe it wont, hopefully it will.
anyone else having this problem?
