Error trying to install Proliant Support Pack

Whenever I try to install the Proliant Support Pack from the CMS I get the following error:

"Error retrieving repository. Be sure a trust relationship is established with the repository device"

What does this mean and can you tell me the steps in plain dummies english that I need to do to fix this.

Thanks

Re: Error trying to install Proliant Support Pack

Hi,

Are you trying to deploy a PSP from your CMS to a host server?

Well you have three types of trusts:
1. Trust all
2. Trust by name
3. Trust by certificate

The last one being the safest choice of the three and also the recommended one.
Now to create a trust by certificate two ways
1. you need to import CMS certificate to your host, which is probably fastest but maybe a bit more trickier for a beginner.

2. From SMH of a host server, you go to OPTIONS->Settings->Trusted Management Server and then in the small box where it asks of Insight Manager name type the name of your CMS server. You should get a success result once you press submit.

Now after this is done you also need to make sure your VCA is connected to your VCRM, you should feed into VCA settings name/IP of VCRM and also account credentials by which it could access this PSP.

After doing this you probably need to do Software Polling on your hosts and then you should be good to go.

Re: Error trying to install Proliant Support Pack

ok thanks.

I am now trying set the disk threshholds on the mqanaged servers from the CMS. When I do this I get the error "Could not set the disk threshold, the agent did not accept the request."

I have set the trust mode on each managed server to Trust all sources so that I dont need to mess with certificates etc...

Is there anything I need to change on the CMS for this ?

Thanks

Re: Error trying to install Proliant Support Pack

Yes, in the CMS under the OPTIONS menu you should have security settings to TRUST ALL(Not a secure choice at all) :).

In your SNMP settings do you have a READ&WRITE or READ&CREATE community string? You need to also set such a string in your snmp settings so that you could change thresholds.

Re: Error trying to install Proliant Support Pack

Thanks Guys!

I tried to select three servers that I cannot access SMH that iand always asking me for password. one of them worked but the two servers no.

What I did:
I went to my CMS then select three servers go to configure then configure or repair agents, provide all the info and passwords etc.

It then try accessing SMH and it didnt work, login rejected.
the only difference is the two serves is not in my AD domain.. all in workgroupp..

any idea. Is there a way to do trust all.. how do i do it.
