Event notification

So, I'm trying to figure out how to prevent certain events (such as Tape drive door status) from being sent as a critical event. I've created a "Task" to send me emails for critical events, but how do I define the events themselves?

do I need to somehow create another task that says that those events aren't critical?

if so, in what order do the tasks get processed? Is it like an ACL? is it processed in order?
