Excessive virtual memory usage and high disk IO

SIM processes mxagent, mxdomainmgr, mxdtf, and mxinventory are using excessive amount of virtual memory and process mxdomainmgr is running at 50% disk IO with frequent peaks at 100% sustained for several minutes. Is this normal activity? I'm using SIM 4.1
