How adding and reporting custom-fields ?

Hello,
we'd like to add a lot of custom fields to the HP SIM DB (Ver. 5.0 on HPUX) and use it in SIM reports and via SQL also in external systems.

Adding a DB table and linking it to an system-ID key is what I have in mind.

I didn't find a "how to" for this, only abusing a few existing fields is described.

Does somebody know how to do this?
