How do you shut down the SIM correctly?
sometimes I have to reboot my SIM Server, but when I just simply do it by clicking start->shut down in windows, my SIM Server doesn't come up the next time windows is up again. I'll get database errors in the event log and i had to reinstall the SIM two times when this occured.
Is there a special procedure to preserve database integrity? I tried to shut down the SIM services or shutting down the database, but i did not help.
Thanks
Alex

Re: How do you shut down the SIM correctly?
I use the MSSQL 2005 Express Edition that is included in the SIM download package, installed on the same computer. In the meantime I ran several test concerning the database integrity and all of them showed no errors. Strangely, my SIM does not load after all... you can't connect trough HTTP and there is always the message: "Waiting for the SIM HTTP Server" when you start it on the host machine.

Re: How do you shut down the SIM correctly?
--
That's not correct; one way to stop HP SIM is through the command line interface -- mxstop and mxstart.
On Windows, HP SIM is implemented as a Windows Service; using the service manager allows you to start/stop HP SIM as well.
Note that it may take HP SIM several minutes after rebooting to be fully "up". On Windows, I wait until the mxdomainmgr process is not gathering any CPU time before I try using HP SIM.

Re: How do you shut down the SIM correctly?
mxinventory is for Database. looks u have issue with Database not with SIM.
Your mxdomain manager took 7.5minutes to come up its really more then expected. Whats ur h/w configuration? RAM, CPU?
I didnt see any errors in log u send. can u please attach log file as attachment?

Re: How do you shut down the SIM correctly?
The SIM is currently running in a virtual machine with 1280 MB of RAM and the host system is a dual xeon 2,8 GHz HP Server. Unfortunately (due to licencing issues) the OS of the virtual machine is Windows XP.
I'm going to reinstall the SIM on a 2003 Server System for testing purpose.
