HP failover software SIM

We acquired a new company and they have a situation where they have a number of servers where the name is actually two servers. One server is a fail over ( hardware only ) server where they are both connected to an external disk array. The fail over system is managed by the HP/ Compaq failover software which sends out a heartbeat ( if the heartbeat on the primary machine goes down , then the secondary system powers up.

How can SIM handle this or can it
