HP Insight Manager Licensing
Is it free or are there associated costs ?
Does a certain aspect of the license come when you purchase servers ?
Costs for monitoring HP devices ?
Some places stay on the HP site states that it is free and other places say that you can evaluate before purchasing license ..
Thanks

Re: HP Insight Manager Licensing
HP offer SIM as a free download. You can set it up and use to monitor your servers ect for no cost.
There are various sytem tools you can incorporate within SIM to better manage your Machines, VM's for example- ICE Packs ect... These you would need to purchase licenses for.

Re: HP Insight Manager Licensing
The agents are installed as part of a build using smart start are also free.
HPSIM can be enhanced by some add-ons, these include things like; Proliant Performance Management Pack, Virtual Machine Management. For these you pay on a per server basis, or there are some packaged variants that include a lot of licenses.
I would start off with the free stuff, install and test and then look at what additional functionality is available via the licensed options.

Re: HP Insight Manager Licensing
SIM is free.
This includes event and Hardware Status Monitoring. Driver and Firmware status monitoring is included with the Version Control Agent program that installs at the same time. Linking SIM to iLOs to have trusted logins is included.
Integration with other management platforms apart from System Center is free

The extra cost options are on this page
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/index.html (Obviously excluding the SIM link and Dynamic Power Capping is free. But relies on iLO licenses.)
Get the 10 node restricted time trial versions of any of the above from here

Dont bother looking at Insight software Vulnerability and Patch Management
