HP SIM & network traffic

Hello,

We have 7 ProLiant servers that are managed by HP SIM 5.1 over a WAN link.

We have been experiencing bandwidth problems with the WAN link and we wonder if it's partially caused by HP SIM.

- What kind of network traffic does the HP SIM generate?

- How can I temporally deactivate HP SIM network pooling of the distant servers? I already deleted them from the HP SIM console. Is that enough or do I have to stop the HP Insight services on the destination servers?

deleting them is of cource enough as SIM will stop polling an collecting data. If you have Proliant Servers SIM does SNMP polling. For just 7 servers this should not be a problem for the WAN line. As it is also SNMP (UDP) packets will be dropped if the line is full.

You can also configure Tasks to run less frequently. regards ms
