HP SIM Capabilities?
I was asked if HP SIM can do all of the following. I know a lot of the answers but could use some assistance from you HP SIM experts! >>

I'm not going to answer individual items. HPSIM can monitor Services via the HP Management Agent GUI. That will include stop/start of services.
The HP Management Agent GUI will also send on Application failures as Traps if configured.
No it will not do any in depth analysis of SQL, Exchange Backups etc. It will, if they're configured process SNMP Traps from some Backups. It doesn't ping Http Ports.
It does monitor, via the HP Agents the hardware and has a number of plugins that allow HP Agents, Drivers etc. to be reported on.
Maybe if you strip out the ones you know the answers to.
