HP-SIM discovery menu item missing

Hi,

For some reason I have lost the menu item Discovery under Options in HP-SIM. If I from the startpage of HP-SIM tries to run Configure discovery and credentials it simply says that the tool was not found or I am not authorized to use it. I am logged in as root and I havent removed any tools as I am aware of. I have merely run through the first time wizard.

The mx.log file does not show anything wrong. Do any of you have any ideas or suggestions?

Re: HP-SIM discovery menu item missing

1. Did you try to stop and restart the SIM service? There is some code which can remove menu entries if they do not work anymore.
But I never saw the behavior with the discovery menu entry. In such a case you see the menu item after restart but it can disapears later on.
2.Check your filesystem for errrors?
During startup of the SIM service a number of XML Files are parsed to setup the menus.
3. It could be that you do not see the error message anymore in the log file, because the error happend just after the startup of SIM service.
4. Did you play around xml files in the action directory?

Re: HP-SIM discovery menu item missing

Hi,

I did a restart as suggested and true enough, the menu item Discovery has indeed returned to the options menu and is now usable again.

The filesystem has no errors, so it cant be file corruption and I certainly have not edited any of the xml files directly. I remain curious to why this problem occured, but if a simple restart fixes the issue I am happy for now. Thanks for your answers.
