HP SIM lost settings

A few days ago a lot of my servers lost their system type as a server and their product name and os in insight manager. I checked all of the snmp settings and they are set correctly. If I remove one of the servers that does not show all of the correct info and rediscover it, it still does not show the correct info. What would cause this? and How can I get Insight Manager to recognize the correct information on a server again?

Thanks,

Luke

Re: HP SIM lost settings

Hi Luke,

Have you tried running the
Options -> Identify Systems..
against these servers?

Re: HP SIM lost settings

Does the System Model show up OK in the top right corner of the SMH on each server?

Re: HP SIM lost settings

Hi Craig,

I found out the problem. If you go into SIM and go to the system page of one of the machines, you can click on the links tab then click system protocol settings. In there the snmp settings were set to the defaults instead of our network's settings.

I went into options > protocol settings > system protocol settings and pushed out the desired settings to all the machines that weren't set correctly.

Thanks for you help Craig.

Re: HP SIM lost settings

Ah hah, good stuff =)

Also configurable Globally in Options ->
Protocol Settings -> Global Protocol Settings..

Glad it's sorted though
