HP SIM + NT 4.0 SID Problem - Please Help!
Hello,
We have a number (500+) of Windows NT 4.0 Servers running that do not have any immediate upgrade plans. We now have an urgent need to monitor them and want to do so via HP SIM. The problem is that the majority of these servers were deployed with the same image and the SIDs where not changed after deployment and HP SIM uses SID to authenticate server identity. Now when we add one of these servers to our SIM console they always come up with different IPs and Hostnames because it seems SIM is getting confused because of the many identical SIDS that it is monitoring.
Does anybody know of solution on the SIM end of things, or is the only option to change the SID on all the servers?
Thank you in advance!

Re: HP SIM + NT 4.0 SID Problem - Please Help!
Thanks for the link, but unfortunatley thats not it. All Foundation Agents installed are version 6.0+.
Any other ideas? Anything I can do to that registry key?
\HKLOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Compaq Insight Agent\hostGUID
Maybe I can re-assign a GUID to that key? I need a solution that can be scripted so that it can be deployed to the many servers quickly.
Thanks again!

Re: HP SIM + NT 4.0 SID Problem - Please Help!
To resolve the problem every server must have a unique hostGUID.
Delete and recreate a Unique GUID for the Insight Agent Host in the registry. In order to do this follow the instructions below:
1. Stop the Foundation Agents Service
2. Start/Run/Regedit
3. Goto HKEY_Local_Machine
4. Select the Software\Compaq Insight Agent folder and locate the hostGUID
5. Select and delete the value hostGUID
6. Restart the Foundations Agents Service.
When the Foundation Agents restart a unique Host GUID is created.
Then you should be able to discover the servers correctly.
