HP SIM Remote Servers Public IPS
Hi
we are a small IT services company and have a number of clients we provide IT support for.
we log on to the servers via RDP but currently have not got VPN's set up
what do i need to do to monitor these servers using HP SIM?
Thanks in advanced

Re: HP SIM Remote Servers Public IPS
hi,
you might start with a read of the hp sim security guide , it should point you in the right direction with regard to securing communication.

Re: HP SIM Remote Servers Public IPS
Thanks for the advice.
I understand that i need to open cetrain ports to allow traffic too and from the remote servers. Do i need to do anything on them servers and to add them do i do a manual discover and use the public IP addresses?

Re: HP SIM Remote Servers Public IPS
hi,
you can set sim to use system name, ip address or dns system name if required. the difficulty you have is initially getting public keys/certificates into the managed system over an insecure link , unless you have another means to do this i.e sftp etc.
do please read the guide it discusses the merits / demerits of all the options.
