hp sim script proposal
Hi Everyone
I’ve got HP SIM install that monitors a XP24K disk array. I intend to set up an automated event handling process that will log calls with our company’s helpdesk. The idea is to use a script that’ll send an email in a pre specified layout to automatically log a call.
Before proceeding with writing a script I was hoping you could sanity check my proposal.
The alert would be sent via SNMP to HP SIM. Auto event handling would call a script via a CMS or custom tool. I suspect I’ll script in Powershell because it’s a standard in our company. The script will pick up environment variables from custom tools (e.g. NOTICEPLAINTEXT).
The script will check the alert codes and alert description, then log a call if required by sending a formatted email via smtp to our operational support desk.
I am new to HP SIM, please could you confirm that this proposal makes sense and let me know if you have any additional tips
Many thanks
Nick
