HP SIM stops receiving SNMP traps after upgrade

Hi ,
HAs anyone else experienced this.
1 month ago I upgraded to the latest release.
Since the upgrade twice HP SIM has stopped receiving SNMP traps.
I notice this only by looking at all events , and I'll see the system reachable and unreachable events ( which I understand come from the scheduled PING task) , but none of the 'link up' or other traps are received.
Also if I send a test trap , that is never register or received.

When I restart the HP SIM service , everything is OK again.

I tried looking at app logs and mx.log to see if I can spot any errors with no luck.

SNMP has been reliable in all the previous version and never had any issues like this.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Re: HP SIM stops receiving SNMP traps after upgrade

I had an issue where traps stopped showing. It wasn't related to an upgrade but may be worth checking.
In my case the box was getting hit but tonnes of rogue snmp traps which caused SIM to queue the events and so not show what I was expecting.

If you run 'snmputil.exe trap' on your SIM box you'll be able to confirm a) the test traps are reaching your SIM box & b) its not getting pounded.

good luck.

Thanks Conner ,

Yea , it could be that it is a coincidence with the upgrade.

Good point about gettig flooded , I'll check with the network people if that was the case.
