hp-snmp-agents

I installed and configured hp-snmp-agents-8.2.0-284. on a DL380 G5 RHEL 5 Update 3 (64 bit) server.

Restarted snmpd and /dev/null went from this:

crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 1, 3

to this:

srwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0

After some research I see that when I stop snmp /dev/null is deleted, when I start it back up it's recreated as a file with the sticky bit set.

Any clues as to whats going on?
