IM Agents Fail Install

I have a HP DL380-G2 running MS W2K3 server with SP1.

In the past, I have been able to successfully install the Insight Manager agents (CP005194.exe).

Recently it fails.

Version 7.30.0.0
"The software is not supported for installation on this system.
The installation program couldn'y find the appropriate system management controller driverwhich is required but not currently installed. Please install it and rerun setup"

What couldn't it find?

Not a 100% sure, but it may be looking for this component to be installed:

I didn't check to see if the DL380 was supported by this driver but I believe that this is the driver that collects the low level data that the agents pick up.

Re: IM Agents Fail Install

If you are running the 7.30 agents you might try looking at the components listed in the 7.30 PSP list - I pulled that one (in the above post) from the 7.40 PSP list. There used to be several different system management drivers available so you might have to do some checking to make sure you have the right one.

Re: IM Agents Fail Install

As a rule it is better to install the entire PSP not just individual components as they're a tested bundle.
It prevents issues like this, and is easy using the VCRM / VCA to keep an eye on the status.

Re: IM Agents Fail Install

Well installing CP005013 did seem to fix the problem.

Next time I will try to just run setup.

Thanks
